Three Quarts

Grape-nuts ice cream success story No. 1: We wandered into Ashley's Ice Cream shop and found ourselves in a moment of blissful disbelief. Dumbstruck by the words "GRAPE NUT" on the flavor blackboard, we could only clutch each other and squeal a little. Our eyes were wide; we couldn't believe our luck. After weeks/months of embarrassing calls to the ice cream shop as to whether they were carrying our coveted flavor, the wait was finally over.

"Do you know what you'd like?" asked the ice-cream-scooper (Steph's term), unaware of the toil that lay ahead of her.

"Uh, yeah... Can we get... THREE QUARTS of Grape-nuts?" It was all we could do not to burst out laughing at the ridiculousness of our request, yet we were dead serious. We couldn't contain our excitement; we were doing what can only be termed "the grape-nuts ice cream dance" (sort of across between an "I-have-to-pee dance" and a jump for joy). The giddiness at the possibility of having this precious ice cream sitting in our freezers at home was just too much. We stood and waited as our brave ice cream-scooper set to work.

And work it was -- the poor woman spent a good ten minutes emptying the gargantuan tub of ice cream into three quart containers. Meanwhile, we called and texted friends, announcing to anyone who would listen the incredible fortune we'd landed upon. Finally, having paid for our three quarts, we danced gleefully home, scooped ourselves two bowls, and set to work creating something we'd been talking about for months: this blog, detailing and charting our divine love for Grape-nuts.

We (being Morgan and Stephanie) are currently working in the field of neuroscience and are slowly but surely determined to spread the word on the wonders of Grape-nuts.

In the future, we hope to bring more stories, recipes, pictures and adventures. We have also undertaken another selfish venture that the whole world should really know about. The banana-art that is featured is done in collaboration with friends who share in our second love: drawing on bananas with ball-point pens.
